Bancaja Aspar rider Gabor Talmacsi took the opportunity to test next season’s machine and rode Alvaro Bautista’s 250cc Aprilia RSA around the Valencian circuit on Monday.
A second day of testing was scheduled for Tuesday but the Aspar team and Talmacsi decided to wrap up their work due to rain on the Spanish east coast.
Gabor Talmacsi, 1’38.472:
“I am very proud to have run with the 250cc bike. It was a great feeling, like winning a race! When I opened the throttle it really felt like a dream coming true. I did a few laps and then went back into the box to make some changes, as we were mainly working on the set-up of the bike.
I spoke to Jorge (Martinez Aspar) and he just said to me go out there and enjoy it. Don’t worry about anything. We are still a long way from finding our perfect set-up but I’m not too concerned as this session was simply an opportunity to get a sample of the bike. I’m already really comfortable on the brakes, I think I just need to focus on corner speed and acceleration. I’m really happy about this opportunity and I know that I will make the most of it. Anyway the real work will start at the Jerez tests at the end of November.”
