1st Mike Di Meglio 1.44.341 (19 laps):
“That was probably my best session of the season so far – I felt really comfortable on my Aprilia and I felt like I was improving every lap. Ten minutes from the end I made a small mistake, lost the front end and crashed. Luckily the bike wasn’t damaged and after checking it over in the garage I was able to go back out on it. I saw Aoyama on track and we did the last lap together, and even though I lost some time when I got held up by Lüthi it was still good enough for pole. It is strange because I didn’t enjoy this circuit much on the 125 but on the 250 I am really enjoying riding here. The relationship with the team is getting better and better, we’re getting to know each other more and we’re gradually finding a setting that suits my riding style for each circuit we go to. I’m really happy with this pole position, mainly because it is a deserved reward for the good job we’re doing.”
6th Álvaro Bautista 1.44.955 (21 laps):
“We changed the setting from the morning to the afternoon because we had some rear end problems that we needed to fix, but it didn’t work out as we’d hoped and we went back a step. We also tried some different tyres with the race in mind and they had the desired effect, which allowed me to set a good pace at the end. Sixth tenths seems like a lot but with the slipstream here down the long straight it will be much closer in the race. I’m happy because we’re doing a decent job and I feel more comfortable here than I did last year, which was a disaster. It looks like we’re closer to the right set-up and the lap times are better. We have to try and chase Aoyama and Simoncelli tomorrow but this circuit is a little different to the rest and there could be the odd surprise. The important thing is to get a good start, don’t make mistakes and pick up points.”
20th Balázs Németh 1.49.143 (19 laps):
“Both sessions today were much better than yesterday but I’m still struggling at certain points of the track. I can’t hold my line very well in the slow corners and it is causing me to lose a few vital tenths. I’m happy with the work we did today but I still think we can improve a few things in the warm-up tomorrow. The race obviously won’t be easy because this is my first time at Indianapolis and it is a tricky circuit. Either way I’ll just try to get a good start and get in with a fast group. After scoring points two weeks ago at Brno that has to be my objective again but I know it will be tough because of my inexperience here.”
