2nd Bradley Smith:
“I think that today’s result was very positive, because I finished ahead of every rider that was above me in the championship standings. It’s been a while since I was last on the podium, and I think that I really needed this. I hope that we can keep up this form at Misano next weekend. At one point in the race I doubted whether I could take a podium, because we were truly at the limit all the time. It was tough to keep up the pace, let alone overtake. Nico was very combative during the race, so passing him on the last lap with a circuit record was a big achievement for me. A little mistake on the entry to the home straight stopped me from fighting with Espargaró. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to take the victory, but I hope to be in shape to try again next Sunday. Second place has helped to motivate me, and it will keep me focused for the upcoming races.”

5th Julián Simón:
“Obviously I am thinking a lot in terms of the championship right now, and I always tell people that it is the first time that I’ve had to focus in this way after a long time waiting. It is normal to look at the bigger picture sometimes, but today that wasn’t the case -the race was just incredibly tough. We were riding at record pace for most of the way, which is a good sign that everybody is riding at the limit in search of the victory. Terol, Espargaró and Smith were very strong, and it was hard for me to keep up with them. The track hasn’t been good for me all weekend, despite my pole position, so I was looking to stay up and collect points. I am very happy with the work done by the team, improving in every session, and also because I leave behind Brno and Indianapolis -two tracks that are not my best- with good points.”

15th Sergio Gadea:
“Everything went well: the Aprilia was in order, the setup was adequate. everything. We had all the tools at our disposal to do well today, but I think that there was just not enough power in the engine. On the opening laps I tried to get in the fight at the front, but I saw that I was getting passed on the straights and I wasn’t able to do anything about it. I was only able to go fast when I was on my own, and that’s when I put down my pace and went at the limit. I tried to do some ’49s but had a little scare -the chain of the bike hit the rumble strip and I slid around when in low gears. I tried to keep a cool head and eventually finished fifteenth, so I hope that next weekend we can make amends.”
