Julian Simon is currently at the Jerez track, testing the Ducati GP10. However, this doesn’t change anything about his Moto2 plans for this season. Franco Battaini, the regular test rider for Ducati, is unfortunately injured, so Aspar was asked whether Julian Simon might want to test the bike instead and of course the answer was a resounding Yes.
On his very first day on a MotoGP bike Julian clocked some respectable laptimes with the fastest being 1:42.4 – only 2,5 seconds of the circuit record, set by Valentino Rossi at the Spanish GP 2009.
Julian will continue the MotoGP test tomorrow before going back to fully focus on his inaugural Moto2 season with Team Aspar.
