The longest winter in living memory for the MotoGP World Championship is finally over, with the curtain to be raised on another season of excitement this Sunday. Anticipation is as high as ever, with the six days of preseason testing showing that the level of competition is sure to be close. World Champions from every class of road racing will fill the grid at the Losail circuit, where the final test of the preseason took place just a couple of weeks ago.

Páginas Amarillas Aspar rider Héctor Barberá cannot wait to return to Qatar for the first Grand Prix of 2010, his debut campaign in the premier class. Héctor has come through a successful preseason schedule, improving with every session, and he has faith in his ability to continue taking giant strides forwards. However, he is well aware that he still has a lot to learn alongside the best riders in the world and can’t wait to get started when pit-lane opens for the first time on Friday evening.

Héctor Barberá: “I am excited and can’t wait to get out on track for the first practice session of the first Grand Prix of the season. I’m really looking forward to seeing how I compare to the other riders on track. I know I am a MotoGP but until I see myself there at a Grand Prix, actually racing with these guys, I won’t truly believe it. It’s fair to say preseason was short but we have made the most of what time we had and now we’re ready to race. Losail is a circuit I love – I’ve been on the podium there for the past three seasons including a win last year. I feel comfortable at circuit with a lot of fast corners, like this one. The experience of racing at night is like nothing else, it’s really special. It doesn’t change anything though – we have to be fast in any kind of conditions.”
