With the logistical nightmare caused by the Eyjafjallajokull volcano eruption in Iceland now returning to normality the MotoGP World Championship is free to resume this weekend at the Jerez circuit in Spain, with the Motegi round scheduled for last Sunday having been postponed until October. The Grand Prix of Spain at the track known as the ‘Cathedral’ of motorcycle racing will therefore play host to the second round of the season and the first on European soil.

Páginas Amarillas Aspar rider Héctor Barberá cannot wait to get started at his first home Grand Prix as a MotoGP rider. The rookie from Valencia is not a fan of the Jerez circuit layout but he loves riding in front of the vociferous local support there. Héctor already completed a few laps of Jerez on the Ducati at the back end of 2009 and even though the test was affected by rain he knows he has potential here and will continue his quest for points after a positive start to his campaign in Qatar.

Héctor Barberá:
“Racing in Spain is always a source of joy for me and I’m looking forward to this one even more after the postponement of the Japanese race. The season ends in Spain and is pretty much starting here too, which shows how important motorcycle racing is to this country and I’m sure the fans can’t wait to get down for this one. I would like to have a little more experience under my belt before going to Jerez but it has worked out this way and I’ll just give my best to put on a good race for the fans. Jerez isn’t one of my favourite circuits but I always seem to go well there and I think I can put in a good performance. We also have information from the test in the winter, which will be an advantage for us. Even though it rained back then I had a good feeling with the bike and I’m sure the experience will come in handy this weekend.”
