Paddock rumour has it that the Aspar Moto2 team might be switching their chassis supplier mid-season. After only two races riders Simon and Di Meglio seem to be rather unhappy with the performance of their current RSV chassis and the team is now allegedly considering a potential change. The main options would be Suter and Moriwaki, both with very good results in the first two races and also very much capable to supply two more riders.
However, should it really come to a split with RSV, it wouldn’t be possible to ride with the new chassis before next month since the suppliers need a production and delivery period of almost a month. In addition to that there probably would have to be some tests with the new package and the team would need to get used to the changes as well.
But, as pointed out before, this is, as of now, only a rumour. The reports indicate that this might be mainly due to some emotions flying high at the moment, especially on Julian Simon’s side of the box, after the first two races didn’t bring the expected results for the team and nothing might come off this rumour in the end. And seeing that both riders tested various chassis options in the off-season after Aprilia opted out of the championship and decided themselves on RSV as the best chassis, there must be some advantages of the RSV which might convince the team in the end to improve the current problems in a different way while sticking to what they have.
